What is a brand?

Why do we develop a brand?

The brand is your sole ambassador and loyal advocate, attracting clients & encouraging them. At the same time, this helps you bring in a flow of potential customers.

How much time does it take to build a brand?

Branding is a vast subject, and it can take you years to build up a widely-recognized brand – However, if you want a crash course – here are five useful guidelines for you:

  1. Your brand name should communicate what they are supposed to think when they look at your brand.
  2. List the essence you want to convey.
  3. Commission an appropriate logo that matches your thoughts. Make sure the right design surfaces everywhere.
  4. Build a corporate image and color scheme that can be used on your website and other important places to stand out as someone who is “one-of-a-kind.”
  5. Are your products and services reliable, compatible, and of a good standard? A single weak link will drag your value down, and you should have answers to all these questions.

The time branding takes is proportional to the time taken by your customers to accept your core values. These may include the belief that your services will give better value or be more durable than that of the competitors. They may start to believe they are happy with your products compared to others and that your services are most suitable for them.

Being honest, these values are solely based on your customers’ perceptions of your brand and its reliability in its field, combined with the benefits provided by your services. Customers’ opinions are based on substance and thus continuing to fulfilling it ensures your brand’s success.

This kind of reputation is not easily won, so building a genuine and lasting brand is likely to take some time, money, and other resources.

Is developing a brand possible with a small budget?

Deciding on your values need not cost anything, but communicating your message with style will inevitably require a commitment from your end. The key areas to budget for are:

  • Developing a mission statement and strapline that conveys your message well.
  • Design related needs, like website, strong logo, other business stationeries, and product packaging.
  • Advertising and promoting the right materials that convey your brand’s promise.

Can't I just get my branding done for a cheap cost?

Ummm….no! Always remember that a brand is much more than just a business logo. It’s the story, looks, and voice of the brand. A high-quality branding process involves market research including target markets & competitors analysis, analyzing your industry, checking if trademarks and domain names are available, creating a mood board, testing color schemes in different environments, creating a unique logo that is memorable and finding fonts & typography that is effective…and the list goes on! Our branding workshops are also a fabulous way for businesses to really clarify who and what they are and especially who their target market is.

Branding can be a lengthy process involving several creative people working on the project, and it requires input and active collaboration with the client. It is also important that the brand is unique in the market to avoid any copyright legal problems.

What makes my brand successful?

A successful brand always pays attention to its market, comes up with new ideas to keep the interests of their target market, and is never afraid to innovate new ideas.

This is evident in the evolution of brands like – Apple, which comes from the initial logo with Isaac Newton along with an Apple above his head. I've already got a logo, isn't that enough as a brand?

We really need to get one thing straight; a brand is completely more than a logo! Although we understand that cost may be a determining factor, and we appreciate your desire to get a visual identity for your business very quickly; however, we don’t believe logos alone can express enough of a story about your business. A badly designed logo can end up targeting the wrong market altogether.

We believe a brand speaks volumes about a business, including:

  • The experience customers can expect when consuming a product or service
  • How a business highlights its unique selling points or market position
  • How a business understands its target markets by engaging with their interests and needs
  • How a business stays relevant and keeps up with the trends in the market

How long does it take to build a website?

This is a question we get asked all the time and unfortunately, the response is: it differs. Some websites can take months of UI (User Interface) design and development; others can take a few days. Every business has unique requirements and every customer has a different purpose. It’s hard for us to guess, so we tend not to. Through meetings & planning, we’ll be able to understand your requirements and then be able to estimate a project.

Graphic & Package Design

What is the design process?

Once you approve of our quote, we spend some time talking to you to get a feel for your business and learn how best to communicate your required material.

We then design some wireframe for you to look over. You choose the look you are satisfied with and we take it from there – tweaking and refining the design as needed.

Once you are completely satisfied with the graphic design and have approved it, we finalize the design.

We prepare your print-ready file and that’s it. You are then ready to go to print or use your graphics online.

What file format will I get my work in?

All artwork for print is supplied in a high-resolution vector format (.PDF, .EPS, .AI)  – so no quality is lost when the artwork is enlarged or reduced. If you want to use your images for websites & social media purposes, then we will gladly supply your files in JPEG (RGB Color Mode) for uploading online

How long will the job take?

Every project is different and every deadline is different. Really you should allow sufficient time for the designing and proofing of your design. If your deadline is very tight, we will do our best to finish your project within this time. We will, of course, advise at the time of the project.

What is usability testing?

Wireframes are used early in the development stage to initiate the basic structure of a page before visual design and content are added.

What is service design?

Service design makes service simple to use, more useful, and more desirable for the clients who need to use it: the service user. Whether creating an Exclusively new service/improving a live one, service design focuses on what clients really need at each stage of their interaction with an organization.
